With taxes on all our minds this time of year, be sure you’re getting all the tax benefits you possibly can. For a “new start” office, an often neglected deduction is having the practice “buy” any items (instruments, curing lights, etc.) that you owned before you opened the practice and are currently using in the practice. For a more established practice, be sure to evaluate all your equipment needs somewhere in October. If any large purchases are needed and in the budget, that’s the time to get them ordered so your supplier can get them delivered before the end of the year to get them as a deduction on that year’s taxes.
