Dental Practice Consulting Misconceptions

We at Mosaic have heard so much that’s been and being said regarding dental practice consulting, that we thought it might be time to look at some of the common misconceptions and clear the air a bit.
Misconception #1 – Dental practice consulting is too expensive – As with every field, including dentistry, you get what you pay for. Mosaic’s consultants provide excellent value for our fees and put in many hours of research, training and specialized education for our clients. Our dental practice consultants come with many years of dental office experience behind them and are highly motivated to make every client as successful as possible. We once mentioned to a client we should figure out what we actually make an hour. His response was “please don’t do that….I want you to stay consulting and with the hours you put in, I’m afraid you might quit!” Consulting, when done correctly, is a great use of practice dollars.
Misconception #2 – Dental consultants come in and fire everyone – This is a fear we hear all the time from staff members who’ve dealt with other dental consulting companies. Our plan is to train and educate your existing staff, pep up your systems and get the office to a higher level of production. We do sometimes need to suggest letting an employee go, but only after we’ve tried our best to get them on the right track for the health and growth of the practice.
Misconception # 3 – Dental practice consultants are a waste of time and money – Unfortunately, it only takes a few bad apples in consulting to give a bad impression to everyone. Many times we’ve even suggested much less time and money than the doctor was planning to spend. We work on the theory that “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” and we never recommend work the office doesn’t need. When one of our consultant’s is in your office, we’re working with you and the staff in a hand’s on fashion….not just preaching what you should do, but showing you how to practice it as well.
Misconception #3 – Dental consultants don’t know any more than you do – While we have no doubt that a doctor can do the research and find everything he or she needs to know, do you really have all that extra time?
